Would you like to help us communicate Danish foreign policy, history and culture to our international audience in Finland? Would you like to help us understand Finnish policies and communicate it to the Danish government? If the answer is yes, then you are maybe our new colleague.

The Embassy of Denmark in Finland is looking for a new Political and Public Diplomacy Advisor, anchored in the Political Team of the Embassy. The team’s responsibility is to understand and analyse Finland’s political landscape and communicate relevant info to Denmark in order to broaden and deepen the relation between our two countries. The team is also responsible for public diplomacy – our effort to strengthen Denmark's international image, global influence, exports and tourism.

The Political and Public Diplomacy Advisor’s primary responsibility will be public diplomacy, but you will also work as an integral part of the Political Team with tasks such as:

  • Plan, coordinate and execute the Embassy's external strategic communication
  • Plan and prepare events and visits
  • Maintain and develop a network of relevant Danish and Finnish stakeholders
  • Support the rest of the Political Team with media monitoring, reports, analyses and meetings related to Finnish foreign, domestic, security and Arctic policy.
  • Create and administrate content on all social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, to build an audience and ensure engagement.
  • Monitor site metrics, respond to reader comments, and oversee creative design.

Besides the above, there will be a need to solve ad hoc-based tasks that can vary considerably in content and scope.

You will report to Alexander S. Christoffersen, Counsellor at the embassy and team leader for the Political Team. The team consists of 6 people, including 3 interns.

We are looking for

  • A strong team player with a positive and proactive attitude, service-minded, good social skills and high self-motivation.
  • A person with a degree within politics, communication, business, history, language, etc., but we are very open in regards to academic background.
  • Prior political, communication or public affairs experience, perhaps from an international organization, company or ministry is considered an advantage.
  • Prior experience with project coordination is considered an advantage.
  • Strong social media skillset.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, Swedish and Finnish - both written and oral. Command of another Scandinavian language is considered an advantage.
  • Good organisational skills and high capacity for multi-tasking and time management.

Employment conditions

  • We offer a temporary fulltime contract for one year with the possibility for extension, based on relevant legally binding labour market rules in Finland.
  • Standard working hours of 37½ hours per week including lunch break with a large degree of flexibility in organizing your own daily working hours
  • 25 working days paid holiday per year.
  • Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results.

Selected candidates will be invited for an interview in the last weeks of June. Final candidate will have to pass security clearance by the Danish authorities and present a clean criminal record. Expected starting date is 1.st of September depending on availability and security clearance.
